Quickspin has had a somewhat tricky couple of slot releases recently. Not too many of their latest slots in the past year or so have held up on the top. Though Eastern Emeralds certainly made its impact and is still one of their most played slots. However, none of their other slots have managed to keep up with the reception from the fans that Eastern Emeralds met with. Also, their latest release Ticket To The Stars has been somewhat well received and seems to get a decent amount of playtime on online casinos. But here comes their next attempt on pleasing the slots enthusiasts with another new slot – The Grand. What to expect from this slot? Will it deliver the quality that the fans expect? Find out in this The Grand slot review.
The Grand Slot Review: An overview
Right off the top, The Grand provides a sight that has not been seen in a while on any online slots game. The grid layout reminds of some of the classic WMS slots and a few others. So, the row height is set up as a 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5 tiles per row. Not often we get to see this layout on slots, but nonetheless, it works. As is the case for The Grand slot.
Additionally, there are also 214 bet ways. Furthermore, the game has a total of 6 symbols. Now, that may seem not that much, coupled with the maximum paying symbol paying only but an 8X of your bet. But when you add the 214 bet ways in play, it makes a little bit more sense.
Additionally, the game stands at rather high volatility. According to the Quickspin info sheet, the maximum bet win potential stands at 2901,5X in 100 billion spins. Surely enough, anyone can tell that that’s not a lot at all for a high volatility slot. On top of that, the maximum pay per win stands only at a petty 1712X, which, again, is not that much for a high volatility slot. Even the chance of a 15X win is at a 1 in 88 chance. Still, not that much. The game’s RTP stands at 96,58%, and the bet size ranges from €0,10 to €100.
Aesthetics wise, The Grand slot has this elegant early 20th-century vibe going on. Quickspin describes the design by stating “glitz, glamour and a touch of The Great Gatsby – what’s not to like?” Design-wise, there’s certainly plenty to like as this is an aspect of Quickspin slots that’s always on point.
The Grand Slot Review: Features
Now, on The Grand slot, there are a handful of features that are included in both the base game and the free spins bonus game. All three of the central features bring a little bit of excitement to this high volatility grind. The three features trigger randomly at any given time during the base game. The features are as follows:
- Sync or Synchronized Reels – when this feature triggers, up to 3 reels are synced up to the same height. This can be any reel between 2 and 6.
- Wilds – as the name of the feature implies, the feature throws down a bunch of wilds and up to 8 at random positions.
- Nudge – this nudges down one to three reels either up or down.
Overall, the features seem somewhat fair and decent. Though, they’re definitely nothing over the top by any means. None of them really do seem to shine through over the others but at least it gives a fair amount of balance for every spin.
The Grand Slot Review: Bonus
Three or more scatter symbols trigger the Free Spins Bonus Game. The more scatter symbols land, the more free spins you receive. Respectively, for three symbols, you gain six free spins, and for every additional scatter symbol, you receive three more free spins. That makes it a total of 15 free spins possible. Also, as was mentioned before, the Free Spins Bonus Game also features the three aforementioned features. However, in the case of this bonus, any of the three features may trigger on every spin as you unlock them with the GRANDomizer. The GRANDomizer is triggered by collecting 3 Bonus Symbols in the free spins round and then rolls for any of the three features. As well as a random number of additional free spins, ranging from 1 to 3.
The Grand Slot Review: Conclusion
All in all, The Grand slot looks somewhat decent. Although it’s not of the same caliber as Eastern Emeralds and a couple of other Quickspin slots, it still bears some weight to it. The unique grid layout and the 214 bet ways add a bit of variety to win options. Additionally, the three base features are also somewhat fair and decent, as noted before. There’s nothing too over the top, and it seems to play rather smooth. The maximum win potential can be limited, given that this is a high volatility game after all. In general, it feels like you need to grind for your wins to get something decent on this slot.
Nonetheless, we recommend you to try it. Although, the slot is nothing exceptional, it is still worth checking out when it comes out on the 12th of March.
