After two installments in the Staxx series, NetEnt has decided to give the series another shot. While Neon Staxx and Butterfly Staxx might not make it high up the lists of top slots from the hardcore crowd, they’re certainly popular enough to warrant another look. Admittedly, I hadn’t played a Staxx slot in a long time. Therefore, I was interested to see what NetEnt brought to the table. Colossal symbols, respin features and a bonus bet are just a few of the things the company has planned in Strolling Staxx! Read on more in our Strolling Staxx slot review.
Strolling Staxx Slot Review Overview
Upon first glance, we are greeted with a cheery, green background, almost reminiscent of some Mario game on a Nintendo system. Immediately, we are greeted with the classic 5-reel, 3-row look with ten fixed paylines. It’s a shame they didn’t choose to adopt a higher payline count as is the trend. It’s also a bit surprising, considering the previous games were 5×4 in their sizing. The slot is playable on all devices and features bets all the way up to 300EUR per spin. I don’t think the hardcore gambler would be one to choose this slot, but the option is there. The overall RTP stands at 96.24%, which is rather standard.
One thing you might notice that is not a standard feature among NetEnt games is the addition of a bonus bet button. Usually, this feature is seen on Novomatic and Yggdrasil slots. This grants you more chances of receiving colossal symbols that can fill up the screen. Is it worth using? We’ll take a look at that in a little bit.
Strolling Staxx Slot Review Paytable
Everything in this slot has been cubified, save for the wilds! The lower value symbols are represented by the royal collection of J to A, with the higher value symbols coming in the forms of fruits. Strawberries, cherries, and watermelons are all in ample quantity here. It’s worth noting that the melon is worth the same amount as a wild, a line of which across a payline will pay out 33,3 times the stake, meaning a maximum stake of 333x can be achieved.
While this affirms our suspicions that the slot is not one of high volatility, that is still a decent number. During our playtesting, the number of 3×3 colossal symbols was also sufficient enough to warrant for some nice big wins. I can’t say the design is particularly unique, but it has that unique NetEnt charm and does the job — a good effort here by NetEnt.
Strolling Staxx Slot Review Features
Now we’re getting into the nitty-gritty. The game features a variety of features that keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. First up, you might have noticed that the game features a bonus bet button. By clicking on the button, you increase your chances of landing a colossal symbol when the respin feature is activated. This works the same way as other Staxx series games. The colossal symbol appearance has no doubt been influenced by Push Gaming’s Jammin’ Jars, where a large fruit can appear somewhere on the screen for a hefty balance boost.
Take particular notice of the symbol on the signpost in the lower left corner. This symbol has a chance to appear fully “stacked” on the screen. If a single reel is covered by the same symbol, the re-spin feature is activated. If any reel is covered entirely with a single symbol, the respins are activated and any additional symbols of the same kind are added on and “stacked.” This has the most significant potential to land a huge win, in fact, without the bonus bet activated, the maximum win is 500x, not too bad considering the slot also wagers quite well. While there is no bonus game, there is plenty of fun to be found anyway for the casual slots player.
Strolling Staxx Slot Review Conclusion
Overall, Strolling Staxx is the best effort NetEnt has done yet with their Staxx portfolio and is a fun game to play. While high-volatility enthusiasts will find themselves slightly disappointed by the lack of insanely huge wins, it is a slot that will undoubtedly make it into the regular rotation of the casual player. Check this game out, releasing on January 24, 2019, across all good NetEnt casinos. We might see some big wins. And who knows — I might even play the game on the SlotsFighter stream.
